Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) is most typically done to improve facial balance and harmony. Nose enhancement or reduction can be performed on any part of the nose. The size of the nose can be increased or reduced, the size or shape of the nostrils modified, refinements can also be made to the tip or bridge of the nose to alter the slope and angle. Dr. Leigh has gotten some extraordinary results from rhinoplasty and has many former patients that are completely delighted with the revised and reshaped noses.
Rhinoplasty may also be performed to correct an injury, birth defect, improve breathing or to improve balance from an inherited family nose.
Dr. Leigh performs nose surgery under general anesthesia in his fully accredited, in-house surgery center. Following nose surgery, some minor discomfort can be expected, but can be alleviated with cold compresses and medications prescribed by Dr. Leigh.
Patients can usually return to work or non-strenuous activities within a week or two, with strenuous activities resumed within a few weeks. Swelling and bruising will rapidly resolve over one or two weeks, but the swelling may take a year to fully disappear.
Additional cosmetic procedures such as chin implants or neck liposuction may be performed at the same time to allow for better facial balance. Dr. Leigh will talk to each patient at length to discuss the results they would like to achieve.
